Long-Range Ultrasound Machine

Objectives:

This test has the objective of determining whether a Ultrasound Machine, modified to increase its range, would produce an image with high enough quality to evaluate the internal organ and bone structure of an individual at the range of a few meters.

Experiment Description:
Firstly, a spare Ultrasound Machine was obtained in Medbay, after requesting it to DCMO "Phoenix". After taking the machine to Research Bay, the system was modified to try to significantly increase its range. In order to achieve this, the frequency of the Ultrasound waves emmitted was slightly increase. Furthermore, a modification was made to the emmitter in order to funnel and focus the waves, which would in theory increase its effective range.
Afterwards, a D-Class Individual was used to test the machine. He was taken to Research Bay, where we would aim the machine at him, turn it on and wait for the image to be generated. An image was successfully generated, however, its resolution was extremely low, to the point which no valuable information could be obtained by it.

Conclusion:

The idea of increasing an Ultrasound Machine's range, while seeming reasonable in theory, is not applicable. Therefore, this experiment is deemed a failure, and other methods of achieving long-range "x-ray" images need to be attempted.
