SCP-914 Radio Component Test

Conducted by Dr. Leo Bloom

[ LEVEL 1 CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED PAST THIS POINT ]

[ AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY ]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Test Idea: Disassemble three standard Foundation radios and put the components into SCP-914 on the settings 1:1, Fine, and Very Fine.

Hypothesis: On at least one of the three settings, likely Fine, the radio parts will be reassembled into the same or a nearly identical model of radio as those used at Site-73.

Personnel / Equipment Involved: 1x Researcher, 3x disassembled standard Foundation radios, 1x Security personnel

Results: The disassembled radio parts turned into disassembled car radio parts on 1:1. On fine, the radio parts were reassembled into the same Foundation radio that I first disassembled. On Very Fine, the radio also appeared identical to a standard Foundation radio, but when turned on, it started to beep in sequence, which we quickly identified as Morse code. When translated, the Morse code was revealed to be binary. The binary was translated in radio. In conclusion, the radio emitted the word "radio" in binary in Morse code.

I decided to test the Very Fine radio further. I tuned it to Foundation comms, and when I spoke into my own radio to test it, it received the message in a strange way. The message first emitted as morse code, which translated into binary, and was finally translated into the message. This functioned as a sort of encryption. The same thing occurred with all other comms I have access to, including EM, G, R, and NTF.

On the back of the radio there were also five buttons that weren't there on the standard Foundation radio or the Fine model. Each button was labeled Channel 1-5, and each one's text was unique.
  1. Channel 1 was written in bright white letters. When the radio tuned into Channel 1, it played different party music for each listener. However, the music sounded familiar to each one. IA Detective 'Wisp' observed that her music sounded like Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.
  2. Channel 2's button was in good condition, but the text was slightly scratched away. When tuned into Channel 2, the radio rapidly tuned to different frequencies. There was no correlation between them, covering entirely different topics, and in several different languages.
  3. Channel 3's letters were strangely wavy, almost noodle-like. When I turned on this channel, everyone within earshot of the radio had their vision became wavy in the same manner as the letters were. This caused motion sickness in IA Detective 'Wisp' - who was helping with later testing - and myself.
  4. Channel 4 was written in a robotic font, and it was bold. When we tuned the radio to Channel 4, the radio started beeping. At first, we couldn't determine a pattern, but then the beeping accelerated, in a fashion similar to a timed bomb. We promptly switched to the next channel.
  5. Channel 5's button was cracked and bloody. The letters were red and somewhat scratched off. Right next to the button was a hearing symbol, an illustrated ear with three bars coming off the side. This hearing symbol was likely meant to be a warning considering what happened next. After tuning into Channel 5, the radio played a deafening, ear-piercing tone. We turned the channel off, but I experienced ringing in my ears for several minutes. A few minutes after vacating the premises, I experienced what can only be described as an episode of psychosis. I saw ghosts in large suits of armor and heard music boxes playing creepy tunes. The anomalous activity only worsened from there, as I was even lifted into the air and tossed around a few times. This persisted for 5-10 minutes before I regained my sanity and the ringing in my ears subsided.
That is not all the testing that is going to be done. As soon as I have cooperation from both IA and Xi-8, I am going to systematically test how the anomalous radio reacts to messages broadcasted on every single radio channel we have at Site-73, including IA and Xi-8 comms. When the results of these tests are completed, I am going to very carefully disassemble the radio and examine its parts for any that were not there before. If there are any anomalous components or materials present, we must preserve them, so further testing can be pursued.

Additional Comments If Needed: This does fit somewhat into my theory of SCP-914's association with the Nöosphere and essophysics. 1:1 changed the parts into something with roughly equal value and almost identical function. Fine made something that any sane person would regard as higher value: the parts assembled into their functional product. Very Fine, as usual, created something of both higher value and inherently anomalous nature. Very Fine was harder to fit into the essophysical lens, as it's hard to determine why an average human would find something of that nature as inherently more valuable.

However, upon testing the radio further, I came into the realization that, while undeniably anomalous, the Very Fine radio's superiority to the Fine model was two-fold. First, its multiple layers of encryption could be seen as a boon to security for sensitive information. Second, multi-functionality is such a sought after feature in products that there are items entirely dedicated to it, such as Swiss army knives. While not particularly useful in any situation, the five new buttons on the back of the radio would serve as a type of multi-functionality.

Based on this fact, I will use this test as evidence to support my essophysical theory relating to SCP-914.

Beyond that, let this be a warning to myself and other researchers to not lose sight of safety when dealing with even the most exciting of discoveries. I admit I went into testing with a possible audiohazard (the Very Fine radio) without preparing myself or other personnel, without obtaining a secure testing space, and without securing a few D-Class to do the listening. What Channel 5 did to me was incredibly dangerous to my mind, and in the right circumstances, could have been completely disastrous, depending on the situation and the personnel affected.
